My deaf-blind grandson has had a blanket since he was three when he was adopted by my daughter and son-in-law. She asked if I could salvage any of it. It was not much more than a rag. The four whitish squares with the black redwork type designs are the original blanket. I tried to use designs and fabric that an eight year old boy might like. My daughter told me that when he wants to "see" anything, he takes a picture of it with his i-pad and then enlarges it to full screen. This is my first quilt and I can certainly understand why so many people enjoy this craft. I may even sew more of them in the future.....

Thank you. I think quilting very easily gets into the blood of anyone who loves to sew. I just had never tried it before.

Thank you. I will know as soon as my daughter says she has received it. She lives in Canada and shipping can be slow from the states.

Thank you. I know my daughter will want to keep it. She is the sentimental type. But my young grandson may take it everywhere as he did his little blanket and I may have to make another one a few years from now....

You've done a beautiful job.I think he will love it. Great job adding the existing squares and I really like your "I love you" in sign language in the center.
It's a very soothing hobby to me as long as I can keep my "stuff" out long enough to

Thank you. The "I Love You" was here on Cute some years ago. Hightechgrammy posted it in 2010 I think.
I do find hand stitching quieting also. I did the binding on the back of the quilt by hand and felt great..

Thank you for sharing your family story with us. I love how you "saved" your grandson's baby quilt and made a new blanket for him. Great work on this project.

Thank you. I did have to add some interfacing to the squares that were from the original, but I think together with the batting and backing, we might get a few years extra.

Well done Therese, your grandson will love this. I love all the different fabrics eg. the Hotdog, Superhero, Space, Animals and waffle ones. Also the maroon binding putting them all together has made a wonderful quilt - it's very effective. Love Chris
