More advice please. What is the best weight of fabric to use for a patch that also has an applique on top? So 2 fabrics: top applique fabric and base fabric. Both will show.

I'm considering light broadcloth or trigger but I have to shop so I can buy anything.

Found it at Emb LIbrary:

Choose a medium- to heavy-weight fabric for the patch, such as denim, twill, canvas, or duck cloth. Hoop the fabric with a piece of cutaway stabilizer

If I am making a patch then I use a heavy fabric, (denim or duck type) and regular cotton on the top for applique.
