So am I. The 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme is in a couple of weeks and now we are leaving the Europe in which it couldn't happen again.

You have no need to be sad for us (and certainly not for me). We remain the same Britain as we were before. All that has happened is that we are on the brink of reclaiming our sovereignty and the ability to redefine our destiny. The Scots will decide what the SNP has wanted from the outset, which is an independent Scotland. I suspect that this may be a thread that could be pulled due to its political nature.

Being British, I am still sad.
Do not worry - We are the people and we stay friends!!! It is just this organization in Brussels the people don't want any further. Most of the European people meanwhile feel kind of punished by too many rules given by people which had not been authorized by elections. Now they will have to think it over to stop further "good byes". In the end maybe there will be democracy I hope

I have been doing a lot of reading of late. I am proud of the people of Great Britain for taking this courageous step for sovereignty. I pray they will not be punished as promised.

I just heard that the results will not be available for a few days and it was stated that Britain will remain in the EU.
The result of the referendum have been formally declared with the percentages of 51.9% to leave against 48.1% to remain. The 'leaves' have it. PM David Cameron has announced that he will be stepping down as leader of the Tory Party by October this year (and therefore as Prime Minister). It is estimated that it may take up to two years under Article 50 to fully unravel the UK's current membership of the EU (nothing happens overnight with the EU). Scotland, which voted to remain in the EU is almost certain to call for another referendum to split from the UK in order to try to maintain its membership of the EU as a separate nation state. Northern Ireland, which also voted to remain in the EU appears to be raising the issue of integration with Ireland (which is an EU member state in its own right already).
Oh I think the Britísh now have freed themselves from the overruling of the people in Brussels and that's what many other countries would love to do as well. This Europe is not a democracy - everything is kept secret amongst the "mighty". They want CETA and TTIP but the citizens dont appreciate. My best friend is English and we are friends for over 44 years now. For us it does not matter what organisation. We are friends by heart and so we are to the people of Greece, Italy, France etc. I hope Europe can be an area o people and friends and freedom - no paradise for big tax-saving multinational companies which pay too low salaries to the people who work but must pay high taxes. British people made the first move into a friendly Europe and world I hope
