I've been trying to work out the engineering for an ITH purse with the zip in the top for a couple of years. This one is my most successful so far - done in two hoopings.

The third picture is of the inside of the zip, and the fourth is of the whole purse when it came out of the hoop. I then needed to stitch across the corners to create the "box" and stitch round the lining.

Nice work with the tabs at the end of the zip. Sometimes you just have to do some sewing whether you like it or not. This looks very pretty!

I bought a Husqvarna diskette (#171) called "Pretty Purses in the hoop" years ago. ITH was rather new then and the methods rather simple. The purses were made in the 150x360 hoop (at that time their largest). Either with a zip or a flap. You had to stitch the lining and outside closed on the sewing machine - flap and zip were done ITH.
Not the ITH method non-sewing embroiderers want nowadays but it worked perfectly.
It was done in one hooping, which restricted the size to 150x180 max. for zipped ones and to 150x150 or so if there was a flap.
But they looked just the thing at the time and I made dozens.

They look really nice. I like the challenge of trying to do as much in the hoop as possible and I did manage to do the tabs on the ends of the zip. I would have needed two hoopings for my usual method to have quilting on both sides.

I love your bag. I need some advice. I need to do a couple of adult soccer shirts with 7 inch numbers and letters do you know who carries that size of font?
Thank you,
