You know those days, when you want to make something and nothing goes right, so you just need to shut it down? Well, my day was yesterday.
My sister-in-law is having a great-grandbaby and she wanted 5 or 6 burp cloths. The first one did okay. The second one was not of this world! I broke 4 or 5 needles. The design was one I had never used before. Some of the design was dense and other parts, I can see the back ground fabric. When I finally got the ladybug stitched I left off the wording I was including, I was so fed up with it.
Then I started on the third. My cupcake stitched fine, but before it went to the wording, a needle broke again!
I decided to take my throat plate off and clean the fuzz out and the shuttle case. My thread had been hanging in my automatic thread cutter, not cutting sometimes. Well, I brushed with my little brush and got my tweezers and pulled out all kinds of little pieces of threads. Put the plate back on.
Then I looked as best I could at my top threading. I tried putting my little brush in the slots and low and behold I saw a thread caught in there. You can't hardly reach through anywhere but I managed to finally catch the end with my tweezers. When I pulled though it wouldn't come loose but broke the thread off instead. So I got a heavier thread length and threaded the top and pulled it through, over and over. I never could tell if I got the remaining piece of thread out or not.
I stitched the wording, no problem. Then it moved down to stitch my 'Toogie' and some little speck of black got on my pink name on the white burp cloth and I gave up!......
Haven't stitched a thing today, but the third burpie is soaking in Oxiclean.

I think we have all had them. Then it is time to shut off the machine and do something else or you will drive yourself crazy.

Oh yes and we all have them. Usually I walk away and come back later or the next day and get it figured out. another reason why I buy my needles 100 at a time so I always have one ready in case 1 breaks.

I buy in packs of 15 but at the rate they were breaking, I had to quit before I ran out.................now I know who I can borrow' from-lol-

I wish I had some wise advice. Change the thread,sometimes that helps. Or maybe the fabric was just too thick, it could be a dozen different things, Take a break and try later
Where do you buy your needles from. I have only been getting 5 at a time from my not so local sewing shop

Oh sorry to hear that. It sounds like you have sorted the problem now. I worry when a needlbreaks that the timing and calibration on my machine will be put out. It always happens to me when I am trying to do too many things at once.

Chris you buy like Bev. I saw this many in bulk at Wawak but I thought they were all for commercial machines.
After fighting with the machine/designs that day, I came back today and no problem. I hope tomorrow, if I get to sew, goes just as well.

I have had this happen to many times to count. Walk away and come back later.
What machine do you have? My Viking machines has a cover right beside the thread path and it pops off from the bottom. You can clean it out better with it off. A tech showed me one time.

Getting close to a thunderstorm-hope I don't have to turn computer off. I have a thread stuck in the little spring in my threading path. I have a particular spool of white poly and forgot that for some reason I have to lower the top tension to use that spool. Got thread stuck in just shortly after purchasing my Baby Lock Ellisimo Gold. I tried and tried to get in the slot with pipe cleaner, narrow tweezers, larger thread and dental floss. No avail. I was not going to carry that elephant of a machine out to the dealer. My warranty is past and if my stitches ever don't work right I will have my hubs take the front piece off and see if we can clear the thread bit off then. Looks like a little round tab on it that could turn and then remove that little panel. I am too scared to try it but I know he'd try. Right now stitches fine with that bit in it so leave well enough alone.

Yes, if its working don't fix it. Like I said I don't know if the thread that broke when I was trying to pull it out, is still in there or not, but stitched okay today.

Most definitely Toogie and seems like my off days get to be more and more. I just glanced over and noticed my sewing machine was still on where I walked away from it because of thread problems. Then Ron was calling for pain pill, then I had to cook lunch, then a storm arose with power off, powers is now back on and so is the machine I had forgotten about. LOL Getting old is the pits/Lillian

Well, I'm not telling my husband, but I left the iron on all day and we haven't been home for hours. It is suppose to stop heating, but I'm not too sure. The light was blinking and when I turned it down like to iron, it was warm, not hot though. I always have a fear of leaving the iron or curling irons on and burning the house down, so I'm not saying anything, because when I'm not sure he comes back and fusses all the way that I will one day.
We had to go to the hospital. His nephew (53) had a 'mild' heart attack and the 'widowmaker' was 100% blocked. They had to put some kind of pump, before they could even get him to surgery. They told him if he had family, he needed to call them. He was married once, been divorced 20 years, never re-married, and has 1 son. He had open heart surgery, with 2 bypasses.

It's too hot to work outside. I have briers in one of my beds and weeds in the others. Probably be like that until next spring.............Looking at designs is a lot cooler.

Kay, you're gonna die out in that heat! It's been so hot. I vacuumed and cleaned the inside of my car the other day. Hubby helped me wash the outside and by the time I cleaned the mats, my shirt was soaking wet with sweat! Good thing we started early to
