Hi Theocat, I just looked on Google, typed in towel topper with slit in base and there are lots on Etsy. I know I've seen one on here at some stage, but can't remember who made it. Good luck with your search. Love Chris

P.S. If I haven't welcomed you to this site, welcome from me, Chris, Newcastle, Australia

I found some at
Stitch and a Half at Secretsof. Search for Towel topper. Not cheap but you may get some ideas.
Now since you posted here, I am removing you old request. Good luck and let Cuties know if their answers helped you.

I think a lot use Velcro. So you could take a lot of toppers and sew a strip of Velcro and make your towel separate to wash. Kay

I make the topper before I add the back, add a tie of tape near the top before the narrow part, leave the bottom open and tie in a round childs plastic bangle to put the towel through....wendy

You can choose your design and after you have an outline and you are adding the backing to the back of your design, tape piece of wide elastic on top of the backing and then finish the design. When your design is finished, you slip your towel under the elastic band. This way you can use any design you want and add it to a frame to make the topper. I hope this makes sense or someone can explain better.

They are lovely to use.
