Hi Cuties,

I am asking for information about a program to open zipped files, preferably a free program, and a safe site to dl it from.
I tried to look back at my questions before, but couldn't find my post. I got a few answers then, but was scared to dl a program, for fear of getting a virus. I need a safe site that you may have down loaded from yourself.
I didn't know what category this fit under, as it is a question about 'programs' not emb designs/sewing/crafting or digitizing, etc so maybe we can just chat about it. I know there is some Cuties that can really help me.-Toogie

I have Windows 8.1 as operating system and when I right click on a zip file one of the choices is "extract all" and that unzips it. No other program needed.

Martine is absolutely correct...if you are running a Windows OS...Windows 7, Vista, 8.1, 10...right click over the zip file and click on "Extract All".....if you want a program other than the Windows Zip program...I also have 7-Zip...Here is the link for a Windows OS download...32 bit or 64 bit...

I also forgot to ask, if I dl this 7-Zip will it interfere with the program I already have? Mine won't open or convert a vp3 or vip file to pes.

Hi Toogie...7-Zip does not interfere with my Windows Zip program, but...an unzipping program does just that...unzips the file...they don't convert to sewing formats. You need an embroidery software program to convert files...To change formats you need a program like TrueSizer or Artsizer and both are free...Here is a link for the free TrueSizer program...it will convert to vp3, vp and pes formats as well as many others...

As has been said, no program is needed to unzip but I use 7-zip to create zip files.

ARTSIZER FREE PROGRAM converts one format to another for machine embroidery files.

Go to OESD and read all the files it will open and allow you to SAVE AS (pick the format you need and SAVE AS) I believe both types you wanted this program will do.

PM me if you have questions.

Thanks for all the advice given so far. We've had an emergency (not Avery, thank God) and I only had 4 hours of restless sleep, so I'm just thanking all right now and will check out suggestions another time.
