I have a Viking SE and Diamond. But know nothing about the Topaz. Just be sure it will do want you want it to do! Buy from a dealer as all machines have some that need TLC sometimes!

I had not had good expériences with viking and recently I spoke with a company representative and they told me that it is harder and harder to get parts for the machines. I have had 4 viking machines and would never buy another but that it just my experience. Since the company moved it manufacturing to china the quality has suffered. hope this helps, good luck

I'm sorry but I have to agree with michemb.. The Viking Topaz is NOT made in Switzerland, it's made in China. Viking Designer 1 and Designer SE were made in Switzerland .. I have read horrible reviews about the Topaz machines..

Hi Mary,
I bought a Viking Designer Diamond when they first came out and it plays up so much I hate having to use it as I know I'm going to end up in tears of frustration. It has been in the repair shop four times and still comes back not working satisfactorily.
I know it isn't the Topaz but, if the Diamond is the top of the Viking range, then I wouldn't expect the rest of the range to be any better.
