Hi Nina and let me be the first to welcome you to this great site. My first thought when I read your post was it may be the size or format. For example I can only use PES on my Brother machine. I use Hus, VP or VP3 on my Viking and some others too. Love Chris, Newcastle, Australia.

What size is the USB?
by ninaphoebexo 28 Aug 2016
Hi, thanks for replying, well the format is definitely PES for my brother machine too. I was thinking it was the size but I have the brother innovis 750e so I'm not sure thats te problem, the design is 43,000 stitches, I'm sure my machine can do that right?

Yes, your machine can handle the stitches in the design. Have you got it in the right size hoop, I'm just trying to think of things that won't allow you to see it on the screen. You say you have made another folder on the usb so have you click on that folder to view it? Love Chris

Make sure about the frame size. Not so much the stitch count.

I have a Janome 500E and I use a USB stick.
I never have more than five or six designs at the most on the stick at one time, to sew.
I know people who only put one design at a time on the stick.
You might try taking some off and see what happen

There are now over 12 versions of PES format and it could be that it is either a newer version than your machine can read or older than your machine can read.

If you can re-format the design to version 6 of pes I suggest you try that, make sure you save another copy of the design before you change it.

If you don't have the software to do that then feel free to contact me via private message so that I may advise you further.

Hi and welcome. I'm not too familiar at using a usb stick on a machine but I don know that many only have one or two designs on the stick at a time. The other comment is that maybe the design is a wee bit larger than the largest frame of your machine, then it doesn't show up on the screen. Good Luck at solving the problem, Meganne has offered further help. To send her a PM look at the top row by your name, number of flowers you have, Dowload Centre and Inbox. Click on that and the message will be seen by her only. In the Q&A section here there is a huge amount of information on how the site work, including how to send a PM. Do let us know what solved the problem

Hi Nina and big welcome to Cute...well it sounds like the design may be too large for your machine or it is in a version of .Pes that it does not recognize...If you have PE-Next, you can change the version of .Pes you save the design in by using the drop down to select a lower/higher version of .Pes...I would suggest a lower version first...also, make sure it is in the right size hoop and that the design is centered within the hoop..you might also check to see that there isn't a "rogue" single stitch that might be just outside the hoop area...some applique designs are digitized with a jump stitch to move the hoop away so that the applique can be more easily accessed...good luck and please come back to this post and let us know if you have solved the problem or need more help!

Welcome Nina. A quick question: was the design still in WinZip form? The machine will not recognize nor open anything that is. I had downloaded a few designs to stitch out at an Embroidery Sit&Sew. To my dismay no designs came up! I thought my machine had burned out because many of us were using the same extension cords -- the ones that have 6 outlets on it. I had to go home without embroidering anything.
When I got home I put the USB stick into my computer and recognized the problem immediately. I had not opened the designs from WinZip!

It's so easy to do with the software. In PED Next, open the design and in the upper right corner click "Send", then click "Send To USB Media" and it goes to your stick like lightening. I hope this was the problem, and you can now mark it as another learning lesson on the road to embroidery greatness.
Oh, I also bought a heavy duty extension cord just for Embroidery workshops and plug it directly into the wall outlet if I can. Otherwise I plug it into another extension cord that doesn't have too many other machines plugged into it. As always, Have Fun.

When I put designs on my USB for my brother, I don't put them in any folders. I just put it on the stick.

Check that the designs fits inside your hoop if it is too wide the machine will not recognise it. Check it out on your computer.

I believe all designs have to be in the root directory.

This is not true for Brother or Baby Lock.

That happened to me once & I finally figured out that I had put a .hus design on the usb stick for my Babylock machine.
I just hate it when my toys are smarter than I am.

The one time this happened to me, I had saved the design with a hoop size that was too small. Hope you figure out the problem.

I always have 4-6 designs on whichever usb I'm using. Sometimes in folders sometimes not. Not had a problem with that.
