EDIT PHOTOS BELOW-Hi Cuties,

I went to the thrift shop today and really got some finds, but the one I'm most happy with is this little battery operated, Singer sewing machine! Isn't it the cutest thing you ever saw?

It has a real working light and it straight stitches or zig-zags, how you like that ! The batteries (2 D cell) still are up, so I was able to see it worked, before I paid so much for it. Just teasing you, look at the sticker price!

The thread spool is in the cover where it says Singer. The on/off switch is on front with a safety cover over the needle. The little drawer opens up,on the front and has another spool of thread, needle threader, and a tape measure.

They all will be back tomorrow night, so I can give it to her then. It feels like Christmas, to me anyway!

I hope you all are having as great a day as me-Toogie
bevintex asked about my other finds today, so I added photo below. Info is in my comment to bevintex.I love these buttons on the jacket. The buttons alone, are worth the $3. I can get a jumper/dress for Avery out of the plaid.

I told her Papaw, he needs to make her a small table for it. Of course if I put her in here with me, I don't know WHERE I'd put it-lol

lol-maybe for her. I just tried it and it makes big basting stitches. If you pull the top stitches, it comes apart. If you put the top stitch to the back, at both ends then it locks the stitching. I need to take a photo to show you. It is still worth 2 dollars to me to let her get the 'feel' of guiding the fabric and running the foot pedal. My daughter Marsha came by and laughed when I went to show her how it sewed. I was trying to find & press a button to make it go!-lol

Thanks mops. I hope I can get a photo of her surprise. Her Papaw went to Walmart the other day. Came back with her 4 pair of flip flops! They were on clearance $1 a pair. I told him to give her one pair, each time she came, but then thought better of it. I didn't want her to expect a gift each time she comes. He gave her the first pair. It was Minnie Mouse. She held them to her breast and exclaimed, "I just love them! Thank you,Papaw!" It was long she got the Frozen, Little Pony and Hello Kitty pairs-lol

Gorgeous find Toogie. I was at our Op Shop yesterday dropping off 2 bags of my clothes. Trevor asked me if I was 'nesting' and I said no, just needed more room in my wardrobe for Spring and Summer clothing! He he he! I love your find, we often have things like this in our shop. It will come in handy for one of the grands! Love Chris

Nora will get it tomorrow of Friday, when ever they come to stay. It's the long week-end with all 4 kids!!! Ashley has a young lady from Church come in Sunday late evening until Monday morning. Her MIL comes on Monday and takes her to therapy and tends to the two little ones. Her DH is off every Tues and Wed so from Thursday through Sunday, we have her and the kids here. This will be the fourth week of this. She is better but we want her well, for herself & ALL our sakes!-lol

I got Ashley a brand new, nice denim jacket, still had the price tag from the store for $3. at thrift shop. I got 3 yards of a small plaid, good quality fabric, for $1. and another piece of slick lining fabric for 25 cents. My BIL asked me last time I saw him to make him another Barber cape. They lost everything in a house fire a couple years ago and he said the cape included. I had made him that one too. Anyway, can't beat 25 cents.

it looks like the needle is contained by a plastic guard
by toogie 08 Sep 2016
Yes, it is Bev and I'm happy about that or else I wouldn't let her 'play' at sewing so young. Lillian I do hope I get to shoot that photo! Thanks for the concern but to get to the needle you have to unscrew that case around it. Hope it doesn't come unthreaded too often..................

I was sewing on my Mom's machine at age 3 and never ran a needle through my finger. Don't worry. Kay
by toogie 09 Sep 2016
Kay, Marsha put her on her machine with Nora in her lap, on the slowest speed. Nora's eyes watched that needle closely! She may be okay, but I had to laugh. Before we went to Marsha's I had told Nora when she got 7 she could sew on the big machines. She didn't say a word, but put her head down like to pout, turned to go out of the room and let out a big cry when she reached the doorway-lol That's 4 more years!!!!

Oh, don't be jealous but I am glad you like my finds. Nora loved her machine!!!! Avery is getting ready for school now. Her 'Pops' has just given her bath and mom and he are getting her dressed/hair dried. I tell you I thank God for that man. How many dads/step-dads/men do you know would help their wife care for her like this? He is a Godsend. I can't stay down and bathe her and neither can Ashley right now. At their house they can put her in the walk in shower but here its the tub.
I hope Joshua is enjoying this new venture/home. Did he find a job? Hope all is well. Love to you both-Toogie

I love your thrift shopping. There is a place in Scottsdale, AL.or is it Scottsboro? where all the airline lost baggage goes and I can't get any one interested to go with me to Alabama. I have read about it for years and think it would attract as many men as women as men travel with golf clubs that never made it. If anyone had ever been there , please tell us about it! Kay

Elizabeth are you vacationing or business? I don't know if you have family here or work.
We were so excited playing with her and her machine, I forgot to give her mom the jacket or Avery the fabric!

What a great find,
we had bag day day at our thrift shop (anything you could put in a large grocery bay for dollar) I bought several pair of jeans to cut apart planing on making a jeans quilt in crazy patch design..
