Here's Nora! #1 is when she first got her little Singer. I had it set up on my lowered ironing board.(see her sippy cup? ah.....) If you can see in the bottom photo, the brown scrap she has sewn, it makes really big stitches. (you may have to do a close up & she didn't sew straight for sure) She likes cutting the thread-lol I hope she doesn't cut things like her cousin did, after I let her cut threads with my nippers.

When I was a kid I got a red metal one. If memory serves me, it had a wheel you turned by hand, to make it sew. I still have it somewhere........I think.

Maybe she will be Laura and yes, she is growing too fast. She turned 3 in July. Her daddy asked where she learned to talk, with one hand on her hip and the other moving in the air. I told him it just comes naturally for a girl.-lol

That may be a while Karen. She wants to hold the fabric tight and I put my hand over hers, for her to feel a light touch,.... but its not working. May take awhile.

Thank you Maria. I believe we will have many sewing times, as she gets older. My grandmother made quilts all the time, but I never remember her trying to teach me. We watched Mamma sew but she just bought us a gown pattern and we made our own. The only help we got was if we didn't understand the pattern guide. Well, 2 out of 3 learned, me and my oldest sister.

Or bed jackets, when I'm bedridden-lol Isn't she beaming! I want so much for her to learn. I like to show her the flat fabric and then the finished item. Sometimes it still amazes me, what we all can do.

Probably so. You know her mom said, Nora thinks I make EVERYTHING. Her mom had to tell her no.....I say, why burst her bubble-lol

That is so wonderful! Isn't she like 3 or 4? I am hoping to get an 8 year old started. I have been hesitant to start his 6 year old sister. But Wow!

Ah Christine, she can't really sew anything, although it is making real stitches. When I told her I would let her on my machines when she was 7, she dropped her head, turned to go out of the sewing room and reached the doorway, before she let out a wail! She is only 3 now.
