My husband and I just got back from a fabulous trip to Niagara Falls. We spent most of it on the Canada side but walked across the Rainbow Bridge to the US side too. Our Sheraton on the Falls in Canada hotel room looked out over the falls and we could open our window to see and hear them. Amazing! It was my first trip there and I can't believe I waited this long!

We walked around the area every day. We would ask how to get somewhere and we were always directed to the WEGO bus like we were crazy to walk more than 5 minutes. The parks are beautiful and we were surprised at the difference of the falls park on the US side which were not nearly as well kept. (I wonder if it's a money issue. The Canada side taxes everything purchased in the tourist area for the upkeep is what I was told.)

We went on the boat tour by way of the VIP bus tour booked through the hotel concierge. It included the behind the falls tour which goes down in the rocks and literally behind the falls. It also included discount tickets to see the IMAX Niagara Falls movie which we saw but I don’t think it was worth the time.

We walked up Clifton Hill which has a lot of tourist attractions. I’m afraid of heights but I decided to be brave and go on the SkyWheel which is a 175 foot Ferris wheel with enclosed cars. I got very scared and when we got to the top and the recording said we would go around 3 times I pushed the emergency button and had them let us off as soon as we reached the bottom!

We did not do the helicopter tour. I’ve done the helicopter tour in the Grand Canyon and I wasn’t scared but we already had so many great views that we didn’t think we needed to do that too. We also drove to Niagara on the Lake which was a very pretty little town down river from the falls. Overall a fantastic trip!

We had a windy, rainy, lightning and thunder storm on Saturday night. It was also fun to watch from the hotel room. The rest of the weather was sunny or partly cloudy, humid and around 82 degrees.

Your photos are beautiful captures, of this amazing beauty. Even your aerial photo is wonderful. Although I've been to New York I didn't make it there. Some friends of ours went last year and she said it is something everyone should see, so majestic! I am happy you got to go. Was it an anniversary trip, or business with hubby?

Love the rainbows in the shots!

The aerial is from the plane home. No special occasion except all the kids moved out and we feel more free to travel. We are also not paying any expensive tuition at the moment!

Thank you for these beautiful pictures. The falls remind me of my trip to Zimbabwe many years ago when we visited the Victoria Falls. We got absolutely soaking wet

Ron and I did everything you did back in 2002. Funny but just last week was looking through my 100s of pictures. We must have even stayed at the same Hotel I don't remember it's name but have some of the exact same pics you have. We also went on an all day bus tour which included, choc. factory, winery, the Locks an, ancient monastery etc. I loved it all. We did all this after spending a week on Mackinaw Island. We went into Canada at Sault Sainte Marie then drove across to Niagara. It's one of my fondest trips we took. I know how much you enjoyed everything and weren't the flowers fabulous. especially at the quaint Niagara On the Lake. No Ferris Wheel back then so did not do that. You will , like me have wonderful memories to look back on years from now. Congratulations on your marvelous trip./Lillian

We stayed at the Sheraton a few years back, and our room faced the Falls, what a spectacular view that was! I am glad you enjoyed your trip.
We live in Michigan, so it isn't quite the trip for us and we go every couple of years,,taking Grandchildren as they get old enough to leave Mom and Dad for a few days.
The Falls are still beautiful, but the area has become so terribly commercial, it is disheartening. I saw the Falls for the first time in 1966.... lots of commerce, but not like now.

I can't believe I never took our children. We are thinking of taking them and their spouses on trips one at a time.
Clifton Hill was disappointing to see, so many tourist trap stores and oddities that didn't really seem to fit the town.

We found nice,, family style restaurants (better prices) down Lundy Lane.....just ask any employee....this is where the Locals live and eat. Then you can go back to the "attractions" and not pay $16 (Canadian) for a
Mc Donalds!
