I'm confessing right up front that I am NOT a neat freak! But, my husband and I are making a change after 30 years in this house. Our storage building had lots of just plain old junk. So, we rented a dumpster, and we are having a ball. It is so much fun to throw all this junk in the dumpster and not worry about sorting--someone else is going to do it! We can only do a little each day because of our health, but oh my. I'm both ashamed that we accumulated all this but so happy it's all leaving. Then, I can sit and sew with no guilt.

I must admit that I AM a neat freak! We are having a hard collection pickup next Monday and only have a couple of things to put out. They are mostly our children's things that have been left at our place. So glad you will now have plenty of time to do some sewing. Luv Chris

wish we had the hard collection in our area but seeing as we can use the dump for free we don't get one.
Not good when you don't have a trailer or ute. And too old anyway.

Our city has regular clean up days, where anything can be tossed. But we don't live in the city limits, so we don't get to take advantage of that. This dumpster has been a godsend.

It is surprising just how much we collect over time. We are throwing quite a bit out as we pack to move house. A great time to do it. Hugs

It's very liberating to have the opportunity to toss all this junk.

We have a lot of "stuff" also, and some are really nice collectibles. I don't know if this goes on everywhere, but our grown kids don't really want our stuff, even the expensive antiques. They are all on this no clutter trend, where they are trying to keep their lives simple. So, what good is it to save all these things from their ancestors?
A dumpster is a really good thing!

We don't really have collectibles, but we seem to have been the keepers of our two grown daughter's things they didn't want to take to their homes, plus our own junk after 34 years of marriage.

I agree, Jan! We have a lot of STUFF, and most of it, sentimental items I thought my kids would want. But, presently, they do NOT want it, and I am TIRED of hanging on to it! It is way past time to sort it out and chunk it!! I, too, have a lot of collectibles I think I am going to try to sale online.

Why we have kept all this stuff over the years is a mystery.

I think the bigger your house is, the more you keep. We move from an appartement to this house 6 years ago. In the beginning our cellar was empty, and even the room were not completely filled up. Do you want to come over now and have a look ? Lol. As long as there is no need, I guess we keep things. They are not junk stuff, only things we might need one day, or my daughter when whe would leave the house, or sentimental things that one keeps after parents die. You just need that right moment to let it lose. Good luck with cleaning up !

My husband and I are both keepers. But this time the time was right for both of us. It's fantastic.

Nothing like a good sort out. You will feel fantastic when it is all done.

We only have the dumpster for a few more days so we have to finish quickly. This has been so much fun

What a great thing to do - free yourself from all that stuff! Where does it all come from?

And when did I get to be the keeper of the stuff nobody else wants?

Have fun purging! We have had to do this before and after each move while Rob was Active Duty and it is in grained in us. But we still have way too much if you ask me and most of it is his. Of course he would point to my sewing room and say the same thing, that I have too much. hehe

I've never been as ruthless in getting rid of stuff before, and it is so fun!
