I am looking for a copy of an instruction book for an Elna 715 sewing machine. I know that this is a long shot. I have searched the Internet. Lots of other Elna's but not this particular model.

Well done, you!

Thank you for your hard work. Unfortunately I am loath to give out my credit card details, they even want the CVV number on the back of my card. Although they say no charge I am not prepared to do that. Thank you for your prompt reply

Just would like to say a big thank you to all who tried to help. Unfortunately all the sites mentioned here need my credit card details, which I am not prepared to give. I do not understand why they need this information when they state a free download of their manuals.
I have just written to Elna in Cape Town, so I will wait to hear.

I tried some sights to try and download for you, but yes they want details even though it is said to be free registration and downloads. Will keep searching for you . Sandra.

What does the machine look like Sarah?
Manufacturers can sometimes use different model numbers in different countries so it would help to know exactly what the machine looks like.

Does it have any name on it besides the number?

Hugs, Meg

Have you looked at www.manualslib.com or Fixya.com? I've picked up several user and service manuals at manualslib...no fee...no registration.
When they say free, "NO " i will not give my credit info.

If you go to Elna's GLOBAL website, at the link below, you can write to them directly and ask if they have any user instruction manuals for the 715 in their archives, if not could they please advise WHICH machine is closest to it that they might have a manual for, that they could email or send to you.

Failing that, I can tell you (from what I have seen) and with my long time love affair with Elna machines, their mechanical machines have not changed all that much, so practically any SIMILAR looking Elna will probably work in exactly the same way. Look at the EXPLORE range of machines.
The 715 has the same features but in later models some of the controls have been combined.
If you need an answer to a specific question, just about any Cutie, who owns a mechanical Elna, could probably help you, including me.
I could even copy some of my Supermatic manual and it would still apply to your 715.
I hope some of this helps Sarah. hugs n love, Meg

PS. I just bought my GD an Elna 2000 and when I sat down to use it it felt just like using my old Supermatic.

I would like to thank you all, especially Meg who have gone out of their way to help me, help a friend.

I have some good news

1) My friend advertised on a chat forum in our small town and a lady answered. She has the same machine. No manual but she visited my friend today and took her through all the workings of the machine. Hooray.

2) I have had an email from Elna, Cape Town saying that they will send a copy of the manual if my friend needs it. I have passed the email on.

Thank you again every body.
