About 2 yrs ago we came home to find a sick cattleya orchid had been left at our front door.My husband repotted it & put it in the green house.

Look at it now , 15 flowers on 3 stems .
Sorry I hit the button twice

Absolutely gorgeous. You have a green thumb with orchids. I only know how to kill them.

The biggest risk to any orchid is to pamper over it too much.

Dennis, I've heard to drop 2 ice cubes on the soil every 2 weeks. Any truth in that?

Orchids don't like to be wet, need to dry out between waterings. It has been a very wet year here & some of the orchids died or are not flowering.

This is a terrific rescue for the sick orchid, given a new life it is simply stunning Mr green fingers. Well done I bet the previous owner would like it back. I should be telling them NO way at all. Sandra.

Thank you.I saw the person who left it last Sunday at the markets where I was selling husbands other orchids.I think he was envious when I told him about it.

Chris, I am not very good with house plants either but I do have an orchid that flowers for me every year
by asterixsew 10 Nov 2016
Chris you probably give them too much tlc. I see to my orchids every two weeks or so and we get along fine
by dennis999 10 Nov 2016
Ah Caroline, I didn't know you were an orchid officianado. I keep orchids myself.

I kill cut flowers about 95% rate.
by killiecrankie 11 Nov 2016
Dennis what type of orchids do you grow? We often see cool climate orchids we like but can not grow because it is too warm for them here.

Beautiful orchid. The person who dropped it, surly knew who to give it to. The only orchids that I have ever had were corsages. Kay
