Hi, I am from South Africa. I have an Elna Envision 9008 embroidery machine which is the same as the Janome Memory Craft 9000. I almost never use my machine for embroider as I am limited to only the designs on the 2 design cards that I have. I've been reading about some of the embroidery machines that use a PCMCIA-CF card to upload designs to the machines. Can any body please give me good news and say that it will also be possible for my machine.

Do you have a manual for your machine? The link below will take you to the Janome equivalent. I've had a quick look, but it only mentions memory cards as far as I can see. (There are quite a few of these for sale on Ebay.)
I used the type of card you mention in a slightly later model than yours, but I don't know if yours can take it. Perhaps someone will be along soon who knows more than I do.

Hi, yes I have a manual for the Elna but also downloaded the Janome Manuals, but it doesn't mention anything about other ways of getting downloaded designs onto my machine.

Hi, I have an Elna 8600xplore,
photos are of what you will need to transfer designs from your computer to your machine. First a pcmcia reader small silver flat case this should be with your machine I took a photo off the net to show you a coloured one. The card that goes in that is called a compact flash.128mb but I do think there is different sizes of storage. You don't need bigger as it takes the machine too long to read.I have a san disk reader which that card goes into it takes also different size cards mine has four sizes. that plugs into a usb and you then copy and paste you designs to the reader yen the compact flash goes into the pcmcia card reader which is what goes into these of your embroidery machine. I hope I have explained it clear enough for you, if you need more information pm me. Good luck it takes a little while to get used to but then you won't look bach you will be embroidering everything. Your machine is a .jef format and it all converts auto to jbf which your machine will read. you will see both formats when you look back at the card after it has been in your machine. Then just delete on your computer and put more on . Forgot to say you need a file folder with emb5 for storage of designs. Sandra.

Hi thank you very much for the reply. I did try a PCMCIA card, but when I put it in the slot of my machine I can feel that it does not go in as smoothly as my memory cards that I got with my machine and it also doesn't go all the way, the "eject" button doesn't pop out, if you know what I mean. Does that mean that there may be different thickness of PCMCIA cards?
O and where do I get the emb5, is it a file that I create myself. Sorry I feel a bit stupid with this embroidery stuff..
I have just looked on the Elna world wide web and if you type in google elnaenvision9008 it will come up the first listing is four photos look at the images and in there it says transferring designs to your machine press on the wording and it will open to information on how to transfer. There is a frot and back to the pcmcia card try both side it does not go all the way into the machine it sticks out about an inch.When you press it in further the button pops out and just a 1/4 inch is still out Click on your name at the top of cuties page your pm with photos will be there.
