Oh, here we go again. Cutting cost at the expense of rural communities. I have worked in rural WA and now Qld. Here's a bit of info to throw at the Govt. About 240 million of medicare levy comes from rural areas (and then they get about $240 back). Here in Emerald Central Qld the service is so bad, we always seem to be having children and babies dying and they still don't get the point about the need for improvement in our country health system. Cut backs my rear, what they are really doing to rural health is "cut offs". I will certainly be signing the petition as a rural nurse and a mother who had to travel 8 hours for the last 7 weeks of a pregnancy and then another 5 weeks because bub was 5 weeks prem due to a shoddy health system. Thanks for letting us know.

cotton clothing - cotton grown in rural Australia. Nice fine wool suit, sheep in the country provide the wool. electricity - coal powered, coal mined in rural communities. Breakfast:weaties, toast, rice bubbles, you name it, comes from grain in rural areas. Bacon and eggs type of guy? Pigs and chooks are not farmed in the city (you idiot MP). Milk in coffee - cow from the country. Trip to work complaining about fuel prices, we pay more in the country. Lunch, nice juicy steak bred in remote outback cattle station. Salad or vegies with that? Probably grown in the country (unless they come from China and our famers miss out). Wash it down with a glass of wine with grapes grown in the country. Dinner, same again, not much grown in the city and if you have fruit and ice-cream for desert where do you think that comes from. Bit of TV and then off to bed in your cotton sheets and blankets. Where do you think the materials for those come from. So, Mr. Politician, if you shut down rural Australia, starting with the health system, what do you think you will be wearing or eating next week??????
