This is my second sketch book/artist's companion. I'm not 100% chuffed with it but I think the friend I've made it for will like it. The pockets on the inside for pencils etc were done in the hoop. The design on the front is from Urban Threads. It has elastic to fasten it as I didn't want to use a tab which would spoil the front, however this is pulling it out of shape a bit. The cover from a hard backed book is inside to give it all stability.

Very nice sketch book cover. I really like the use of primary colors in the design and in your fabric choices. Well done.

I love it! What a great idea to use a cover from an old(?) book to strengthen it. The UT design is beautiful and so it the fabric.

The "book" was an upmarket supermarket's Christmas catalogue or I wouldn't have been allowed to use it. The pages are awaiting conversion for paper piecing. I didn't buy anything from that supermarket!

Can you explain what an "upmarket" is? I haven't heard that term before.

Relatively expensive and designed to appeal to affluent consumers. Upmarket is a word often used in the UK

Great combination of design and fabric, i'am pretty sure friend will love it.... have you considered Velcro fasteners for closure - i find them pretty strong and durable i usually use them for my daughter's summer dresses.

Love this. I can't figure out how you added the pockets. Were they made ith separately or added to the background fabric ith? The urban threads design matches everything perfectly
