This is the first piece of sewing/work produced in my new sewing room. I have done this as a brief diversion of trying to fit all my stuff into the new room. I have always loved the designs by Liberty of London. This piece is furnishing cotton and was owned by my late mother. She made it originally into a summer skirt and years later used some of it to make a small cushion cover. It had been sewn by hand but I have redone it by machine and added a zip as there were ribbons. The fabric design is Ianthe. Thanks for looking

That couldn't be anything but Liberty, could it? Lovely soft colours.

A nice cushion out of a fine fabric. I wonder if most of our moms sewed.....

My mom did, but didn't enjoy it, so only covered the bare necessities. She gave me two lessons on two sewing projects, a jumper and a jumpsuit, and then told me I knew everything she did - seams, darts, zipper, facings. (Yes, ya'll knew I missed a few lessons - like buttonholes, fine finishes...)

What a wonderful way of keeping something old after it has been made new. Perfect.
