I am thinking about buying a mini vacuum unit which attaches to a vacuum cleaner to use to clean my sewing machines. I was wondering if anyone else has one & what do you think of it ? Does it do a good job on cleaning a sewing machine ? I can see no problems with a overlocker.

I found it a waste of money. But if someone has found a good one I would love to know the brand. Hugs. Nan W

Hi. Yes, I bought one of the attachment kits (from an EBay supplier as I recall) and have found it very useful for cleaning all those hard to reach places on my Brother PR1000 embroidery machine, sewing machine and around computer keyboards.

I use one for my non computerised machines only and it does a great job. Works brilliantly on my overlocker too.

I don't use a vacuum on the computerised machines as the static can cause a problem with the electronic components. Apparently you can get a special mat and wrist strap to discharge any static electricity when working on sewing machines. When the lint is vacuumed it can cause static as it moves.

I had one of those attachments and I never used it. I like to use the long Q tips to clean my machines. I can get into the nooks and crannies and it holds the lint securely. Let us know what you decide.

I love mine. I bought it from Nancy's Notions years ago and never had a problem. I have used it frequently on all 3 of my computerized emb. machines and overlock without ever having a problem. I think it does good and getting out stuff I can't get. With a long cotton swab, I actually pushed a ball of lint down further. My old BabyLock dealer told me about them.

I cleaned one of my machines recently & lost a piece inside the machine .It was a very frustrating trying to retrieve it .It is really hot here & my sweaty fingers seem to drop everything.

I have had an attachment, for a long time, mine isn't a unit, just mini hose and heads, it goes on the hose of a normal vacuum, I use it all the time...wendy
