It certainly does. My mum got one in 1949, without inbuilt heater, but it twisted and turned :) It was a great improvement on the tub, plank and brush. The water was still heated in a large pail on the gas burner and only my dad was able to transfer that to the machine.

Oh my. I remember being happy when we were able to use the wringer to squeeze out the water. It beat having to twist so tight.
