This rag/frayed edge quilt is what was under my needle until last week. It is ITH applique (design by JuJu). I trapunto'd the letters and pics, free motion quilted each block and then did the frayed edge. It was going to be a xmas gift in 2016 but I didn't even get it started. Sooooo, it is now my first xmas gift done for 2017! Yay me! lol I have already started on my next quilt - another baby quilt. Hoping it will be finished in a couple of days. (It is definitely the year (or month!!!) for babies!!!)

You chose the perfect design to go with each letter! It looks like a very cozy qullt that all children would love to cuddle up in. Cutting all that fabric would have made my hands sore! Fantastic quilt!

Thanks! I bought a pair of spring-loaded ragging scissors and they helped soooo much! I won't ever make another rag quilt with plain scissors!
Shisha that is exactly why mine isn't finished!

It's precious. That's a lot of fraying. Maybe Juju would like to display this picture on her site?

Oh wow! That is something I have not even thought about. I just might have to send her a pic! Thanks for the idea!

I think this is so pretty and commend you for your work. Each block is so nice!
I started a John Deere one about 7 years ago. I have a lot done on it but quit because it was so hard, on my hands, cutting the fringe. I just have regular scissors and couldn't justify buying a different pair, for this one project, as I don't ever plan to do another!-lol

Is it stipple quilted or is that polar fleece? Where did you get the alpha. It seem more relaxed than most alphas? I have polar fleece is why I am asking, if the raw edges are just from the backing?

Each block is stipple quilted. Both the top and backing are 100% cotton so the raw edges are a combination of the front and backing fabric.

Beautiful! I think that the rag edge is an awesome texture for a baby to explore. What a fantastic job.
