This is the sample I made before I stitched onto his shirt. As I said it was my very first try at digitizing. I had only had my machine a few months let alone the digitizing program. Took me about 6 months. But it was good therapy. Probably need to look at it again and see if I can improve it since that was 3 years ago. :) To explain how much you have all helped me, I first stitched with WSS as backing on the test. Thought I needed the clear so nothing would show through the shirt. hahaha. I was really new to machine embroidery and had not found this wonderful site yet. I did however use a tear-away on his shirt. Thank you all for all that I have learned and will continue to learn from each and everyone of you.

The flag pattern was a freebie and I just added his unit. I jut digitized the purple heart from a picture I downloaded from the military site.

Thank you. The purple heart is the military metal that he was awarded because he was injured but saved his men in the process. And his men honored him by working with the Iraq townspeople and getting the man that was setting the bombs.

I downloaded a photo of the medal and digitized it myself. Do not know if there is one made by the military. If you like I can send it to you. Just let me check it again since I did this 3 years ago and it was my first stab at digitizing. It is in the .pes and digitized for t-shirt material.

Very nice. Thanks to your son for his service--and to his Mom for being there for him :-) As a military Mom for 22 years, I understand some of what you have been thru. Fortunately Our son came home without a purple heart. Bless them all.

This was certainly a labour of love. Not the easiest thing to start with, but you must have learned a lot.

I would love to minnieb because I am very proud of my son but you never know who reads the internet. I do not want to put any of our men and women in danger when they go on similar missions. Our site may be for embroidery but I do not want to chance it. Thank you
