I think I found the embroidery machine I am going to buy it is a Janome Expressive 920. Does anyone own one and what are your opinions on this particular model. The owner is giving me a great deal on it because the shop had a fire in it and it was in the shop at the time of the fire. There is no damage to the machine but the box smells of smoke. It will still have the new warranty with it. Would there be any reason not to buy it. The repair man was going through it today to make sure everything work perfect and that there is no defects in the software that was not visible to the eye. If I do not get this one then I will be purchasing the 500 E tomorrow.

When I googled Janome Expressive 920 I only found a Elna Expressive 920. If that is the machine you contemplating then, after reading the specs,
I think it will be a great machine. I do not know anything about the brand since I mostly own Brothers or Baby Locks. Good luck

Elna are made by Janome now so as crafter2243 has already mentioned it is the elna expressive 920.
If it is, it looks like a fantastic machine and is the same machine as the janome 14000 which is a great machine. With it offering both sewing and embroidery plus all the extra features you will have loads to learn and grow into.

I wouldn't worry too much about the smoke smell as that will disipate with time, my main concern would be if the heat has damaged any internal components, If it has been checked out it should be fine, but I would make sure to get it covered by warranty in case something shows up later.

I have owned Janome machines (sewing machines, overlockers and embroidery) for years and usually the reason has mainly been that they can offer so much for the price compared to some other brands and they are quality products.

You will love your new machine

Ladies are correct...it is an Elna machine and Janome owns Elna now...I believe this is the same machine as the Janome 500E, but it is a bit less money...I think Sewmom has the Elna version you are looking at...you might want to send her a PM, but I believe she loves her machine...

Actually it is the same as the 140000, and after they took it apart to make sure all internal parts were not damaged and cleaned it there is no smell. I am looking forward to many years with this machine. Thank you for all the responses.

I am a happy new owner of Janome Memory Craft 500E and can only say GOOD to describe the machine. It's easily to handle - also the software included. Also I have a Janome CoverLock-machine and this is also quite easy to understand and to handle.
Wishing you much success and happy stitching with your new Janome!
(The 500E is an embroidery machine and I love the big hoop size 200x280 mm a lot) Hugs Maria
