I wonder about conversion software...
had an old Embird version, was completely happy with as I could convert files easily - for example from PES to JEF (my new machine is a Janome) - even whole folders with no problem or time effort.
This does not work anymore and I lost key to reinstall. Should I buy their new basic version? Have dl the free Wilcom true sizer but obviously am too stupid to convert files - only EMB but this doesn't open in the Janome software attached to my new machine....Would some of the cuties now what else I could use (free) or should I buy the new Embird at a reasonable price? Thanks for advice - Maria
It is a bit of a learning curve to convert but I think there is a tutorial somewhere and I copied all the steps. My husband did all my converting for me before he passed. I had to learn it all over again.
It only does one design at a time which is slow if you are doing a whole alphabet. But it is free.
Another free software is http://www.wingssystems.com/index.php/products/myeditor/
Not only conversion and printing, but size, color, merge, and delete parts of design. I've used it for years and love it. I prob use it more than PE Design program.
I just bought a 11" notebook as it is easier to take with me than the larger and heavier laptop, and downloaded Embird on it, put the USB stick in the machine and it worked automatically. So maybe the passwords are enough to recognise you.

Also you can update your version for a very small cost which will give you the latest version of what you bought originally. Far cheaper than strating all over again.
