What is your favourite type of mattress? We are planning to buy another and can't decide between Medium or Soft. Think Firm is probably not an option. Appreciate any feed-back

Soft wears out too fast. If anyone has back trouble, it is worth it to get the kind that molds to your body (don't want to mention the name brand).

Definitely firm. Tried soft for a couple of years but me and my GF both sleep much better with firm. The first couple of minutes sitting down and not quite as comfortable, sleep is better though :)

I like firm. We did try an expensive memory foam one but had to send it back because we couldn't sleep on it.

We just got a mattress... It is firm but very comfy. I do not like memory foam as they are too warm and Pillow tops are too soft... We got a Beauty rest firm and we are comfortable. Hope that helps! good luck.. All I can say is take your time to lay on each mattress on your back and on your sides. IT took us hours in the store trying them... Good luck!

good advice. We have as yet, only spent about 30minutes laying about in the shop. Thankyou

Sleep Number is what I would suggest...it can be adjusted to any firmness and both side can be adjusted to be different levels of firmness...soft to very firm...depending upon what each person likes...had the Sleep Number for over 20 years and wouldn't change to another brand...

We are in rural South Australia, so are governed by what the shops in Port Lincoln have for sale. I haven't heard of Sleep Number, which does sound great. thankyou

I won't be much help as I would only ever buy firm. I need the support for my back. I agree with Suzanne spend the time and try as many as you can before you buy

We do love our Tempurpedic mattress and pillows but agree they can get too warm during the hot summer months.

We will try to buy one with a 'wool-top' so it's a bit better insulated, but there are so many and the one that is finally chosen is probably going to have to last for years...a big decision! thanks to everyone for great feed-back.

Love our Tempurpedic, had it about 8years now. We did buy the temperature control mattress cover from Sleep number. If you are hot, it feels cool. If you are cold, it is warm. It really works.

May need to give this mattress cover some consideration.

I love my sleep number mattress, but please go to places that sell mattresses, tell them any issues you have like a bad back, etc and they can guide you to the mattresses that will be good for you. I like the sleep number because my hubby and I each like a different type of mattress and we can each adjust each of our sides to what is comfortable. It's amazing how different mattresses can be but until you lie on them and move around you have no idea how they actually feel.

Ever since back problems in the 1970's I go for firm. I will never forget the night I sleep on my sister in law's home on a soft mattress and had to hold all night with my arms tucked under the mattress to keep from rolling to the center. Also, I did sleep on a feather bed once and that was an experience. Kay

Firm is the best option for me. I have been overseas a few years ago and in every hotel i have been, there was a very firm mattress. At the start I thought that it was too firm but then I have realised that I felt much better in the morning thanks to that mattress they had.
