It's been snowing since early this morning and we're due to get 24" of snow by Wednesday. There has been an endless stream of "customers" at our bird feeders. Thought you might like to see who showed up for lunch.
Picture #1 is a Red Bellied Woodpecker (Thanks, AuntAnnie for correcting me) . #2 A Hairy Woodpecker. #3 A Cardinal and the last picture is a seed stealing squirrel.

I live is Central New York, Chris. We're having a whiteout at the moment so, I can't even see the feeders! So far this Winter we've gotten 112" - not even the average of 120"! Further north of me, they've almost had 300"! Now, THAT'S impressiv
My son is away from home working in that area,yep he said we are having a white out. wow!

I've had as many as 6 squirrels show up and boy, they can empty the feeders in no time! But, it is so cold and snowing and blowing - I'm resigned to let them eat, too...
The Flicker will take the squirrels on and pecks at them.... he certainly knows how to use that pointy beak! And everybody clears out when the Pileated (iconic "Woody Woodpecker") Woodpecker shows up. He's HUGE!!! (About 18" long.)

I was always amazed at the squirrels. Nothing seems to deter them from emptying a feeder.

Gorgeous pictures. Why is the squirrel a thief and the others are just feeding? Maybe you have a squirrel feeder, filled with some of his favorite foods! Didn't know there were Hairy Cardinals! Picture # 3 would make a great Christmas card next year.

So, I buy this (not cheap0 "squirrel deterrent" hot pepper treated seed and suet - and leave it to me to have a whole gang of Tex-Mex loving squirrels! lol!

We're getting rained out here in Sydney. You can see the grass go when the sun breaks through every now and then.

It's so fun to watch hungry critters so close-up. But that's definitely not a flicker in pic #1. It may be a red bellied woodpecker.
