Our plan for my birthday is I get to go to Medford in Southern Oregon and do some volunteer work with our church, then lunch in Grants Pass while on the way back home. Grants Pass is where I spent my later childhood and graduated high school. We have a 2 1/2 our drive each way, but is a beautiful drive through the canyons with the highest mountain pass on the first part of the drive is Camas Mountain at 1472 feet traveling inland along the Coquille River from the coast to Roseburg then turn south and travel down I-5 across Stage Road Pass at 1830 ft, Smith Hill Summit at 1730 ft and then Mt Sexton at 1960 feet. The views are breathtakingly gorgeous especially when skies are clear and you can see across all the valleys from the top of Mt Sexton southward. You then descend back down to a couple hundred feet above sea level and shortly connect with another river, the Rouge River and follow it to our destination. I do wish there were better places to stop for pictures but big trucks are something that do need their space so often we just treasure the views without capturing them on film. We have a great deal of forested land separating the cities and communities in our state, almost everywhere you look is every shade of green possible and then the rivers and ocean views I love. I will try to see if the traffic and the weather cooperates on this trip. We go by 2 covered bridges one along hwy 42 to the coast the another in Sunny Valley, there are others but not seen from the route we are on but in little communities just off the main roadways. The one in Sunny Valley is still used, though it is limited on height and weight, the one on hwy 42 is no longer in use and is now a rest area attraction and photo stop favorite. My day will be filled with most of my favorite things all wrapped together, my sweetheart, my faith, serving others, favorite lunch spot, and gorgeous views of the Southern Oregon scenery with a fabric stop on the way home as I am in need of a couple skeins of yarn. The only thing I will be missing is time with the grand kids but we have that scheduled in a couple weeks. Seems when you find ways to serve others, the pain and complications we may suffer with our bodies, seem to be eased, so as hard as it is for my body, I always feel like a difficult day serving others, hands down beats any good day at home without those spiritual blessings that can and often do come. It also gives you happy memories to help nights not seem so long. My body is not cooperating by sleeping tonight, so I am sure I will be ready to crawl back into my bed and finally sleep when we get back home again late this afternoon. Hope all Cuties will have an awesome day and hoping you get to do some things on your list of favorite things. Even with the difficulties our bodies have, we are very blessed in so many other ways. It is going to be a great day no matter how hard it is for this body, it will be so worth it!! Thanks for the birthday wishes and to those who have read another of my long winded posts!
