Ages and ages ago I was asked to make a cushion that showed the hills and the fields and the name that the cushion was to be a gift for. I had time to think as my sewing room was worked on and it gave time for inspiration to strike. Finally I have finished the work and what was going to be embroidery became applique. Starting at the top the sky fabric is some Amy Butler plain aqua fabric this is followed by Liberty Tana Lawn which I don't know where it came from but was in my late mothers stash. The next piece is Liberty cotton in the Hera pattern that was my mothers. The following piece is linen union from my grandmothers sitting room curtains when I was a teenager now remade as bedroom curtains in our newish home. The green was in a bag of bits from the fabric shop that I've had for ages and is cotton. The green in the middle was a fat quarter bought earlier this week when out for the day. The pale green was snippets of something and the bottom two yellows are snippets of organic cotton from previous projects. I realised that the name would spoil the look so I used the scriptina font on the reverse on a heavy weave cotton in red. I and the friend who ordered the cushion are both very pleased with the outcome. I handed over 7 cushions to her today but this was the only one that didn't match the rest of the set for her now not new settee. Being aware that she has had such a long wait I was highly pleased that she instantly asked me to make a similar cushion for her daughter in law but please could it be ready for June this year Right that's the end of my waffling. Thanks for looking PS I love scriptina font Should anyone be moving my tip for the day is don't agree to sew until settled
