This afternoon I was sent this photo taken from above our town. In the foreground was one of the most badly burnt areas called Knysna Heights. I have drawn a little circle where we live. We were so lucky that the terrible wind decided not to blow our way. The hill on the right was also terribly burnt.

Thank God you are alright Sarah. God bless all those firefighters who risked life and limb to try and save people's homes. I know there has been so much devastation. Love Chris

We were so lucky. We did not even have to evacuate. Some people had to evacuate four times. We have been told that a few fires have started up again.

Sarah, I'm so sorry this happened to your community. Also glad it didn't come close to you. We live in a forest so we worry about fires.

So very sad, 500 homes and a whole region will never forget the terror and loss as well as the kindness and help that people were able to help with, during and after the crisis. Hope and prayers continuing for all and that people will continue to do what they can for those who have a difficult losses to deal with. Pam
