Just seen how the fire jumped the Heads as they are called here in Knysna. The distance between these enormous rocks is 400 meters.
The top picture is how the heads usually look, looking out to sea. The other picture (June 7th) looks as if the sea is on fire as a fire ball went from right to left. Fires are still smoldering after more than a month.

the picture is very impressive but also frightening I hope and pray the fires will end as soon as possible. It's so sad for nature, all people, animals, plants for everything that's destroyed.....

Thank you Gerry for your comment. We have spotter planes and helicopters every day looking for 'hot spots'. Had a bit of rain on Sunday which was good.

Fire can be very determined to get from one spot to another, hope it didn't destroy to much.

It was bad. 5 people dead. 500 homes gone. Acres of forest, not to mention all the wild life that lost their lives.

Fabulous pictures, but so scary too., Has it been determined how the fire started? So sad when it is carelessness of humans,,,so devastating to people directly involved. Saying prayers for it all to end.

It was nature rearing its ugly head. We are in a forest area and have not had rain since last October. The outside temp was 40 with gale force winds. A disaster waiting to happen

Dear Sarah, this is so scary. I do hope that the rain you recently had has eased the smouldering spots. It only takes a spark and then it's off again. God bless all the firefighters. Love Chris

Thank you Chris. As soon as wind picks up, I am jittery.

I pray that your fires are under control and are finally out. We have over 200 Wildfires in my province (BC) Canada, so I understand how you feel.
Its devasting how much damage fires can do.

These fires are awful and so devastating. Those of us who have never experienced these fires can only imagine the what people are going through. Sending prayers.

Sarah, I'm so sorry to see this. I was hoping it was over and done with for you folks. I thought having a large body of water was protection. Painful lesson learned.

I'm still praying for the healing of the land, and people of Knysna. The bottom picture leaves me speechless. Thank God you are safe, Sarah.
