Just spent four hours removing Windows Accelerator Pro malware from my computer. Felt like it was touch and go the whole time. I'm hopeful the problem is completely solved. If you got this one from an embroidery site, as I did, it has a little "helpful" popup window with an 800-number where they try to convince you your computer has a problem that they can solve, with your credit card. They are the problem. It keeps interrupting anything you try to do online and each time you log onto your computer. I got excellent instructions on removal by googling "Accelerator Pro removal" and selecting the Malwarebytes site's entry (four pages of instructions which I copied out by hand, as printer is busted). The big lesson is, when a site tell you your player needs to be updated to complete the download, escape and run from that site. As my son explained, the site may have put up the malicious link, but more likely they simply aren't aware they have been hacked. Aargh! Hope to be more smart and alert if this comes up again.
