I have had family camping in the back garden for the past few days. Tonight we all squashed into my sewing room so I could show my sister in law how my embroidery machine works. Her grandchildren were very interested so when we had finished the cushion I am going to make for her I gave them a facecloth each and let them choose a font to embroider. The results are below. Josh chose Kristen ITC font (he is just 7) and Sophie (12) Angelena font. Both are delighted with their efforts and so am I. Thanks for looking

It is great that you can show young people how much fun it is to create things and not just go to a shop to order or buy things.

Thanks Linda, we had a great time and they now want their own machine... It was a suggestion for my sister in law to buy one with some of her retirement money

They'll remember this experience for a long time. You may have just inspired the future generation of sewers! Are these fonts from your sewing machine? Or are they purchased fonts?

The font used for Josh is in my laptop and the other is one of many I have downloaded onto my laptop to turn into embroidery. *4u

Oh, very nice idea. They'll have projects in mind when they come again. We were taught a bit about the jig saw and the band saw by our grandfather and each summer we would spend the 1,000 mile trip to see him planning out what we wanted to make. He always reminded us of the safety rules and told us what wood was off limits, reserved for some lady's cabinets, and then turned us loose on the machines.

Most people find embroidery machines interesting when they see them in action for the first time. Josh and Sophie are busy planning what they would like to sew next time they visit. Thanks and *4u
