Solar Eclipse in California today was about 75% in my area. I took the picture by using the special NASA glasses over my phone lense. For those that might not be familiar with the eclipse, this one had the moon passing between the Earth and the Sun. It was about 10:15 am and it was a little cloudy so I had to wait for the clouds to thin. It wasn't pitch dark like the picture (it looks dark because of the special glasses). It looked gloomy like a stormy day. It's sunny again now.

We were completely fogged in - just goat dark and then brightened up. Of course the fog was gone and we are left with high fluffy clouds. Thank goodness for TV.

Very nice shot of the eclipse! I too live in California, SewMom. up in northern California in the Bay Area. Just at about 10:10am we had a clearing from a very overcast day that allowed us to view the full eclipse. It was so exciting!

Thanks sewmom. I missed it all together due to a doctors appointment. I am amazed at what I see on the news. Of course in our area we only had a 80% eclipse. Love your Picture

It was spectacular and I should have taken pics. I did not think of it even though I read you could put the glasses over the camera lens.

Very nice pictures. Mine didn't turn out well. I went to the local planetarium for a viewing party, and discovered after I got there that I had left my phone home on the charger. There were great opportunities to take pictures from the telescopes, but alas, not for me. I did take my glasses home and tried to get some pictures, but had difficulty juggling the phone and the glasses. The best shot I got and definitely not great was of the little sun shaped crescents that appeared when the sunlight passed through the holes of a colander.
