Finally pics of the finished dress!

I must admit it was done a few weeks ago and last touches were still being done on the day of the ball. A couple of days before I had to do a mad dash 2 hours drive away as I had not been able to find any beads locally that matched the burgandy/pink fabric.(looks red in photos though). The shop owner helped and the only beads we could find were swarovski crystals and some glass painted beads. They were just right so my DD and I had fun stitching them onto the dress over the next 2 days! I then decided whilst my DD was having her hair done on the day it needed a few more! Talk about cutting it fine!
Our cat decided that he liked to hide under the dress whilst it was on the mannequin and couldn't resist taking a pic of that too!

On the day my daughter said she felt like a princess in her dress and it was just what she wanted! On the night she had complete strangers coming up to her complimenting her on how beautiful it was. She was delighted to say she helped me make it. She was the only one wearing a princess gown, all the other young girls wore the modern fitted slinky dresses that seem to be all the rage at the moment. I was just pleased my daughter was happy and that it turned out well with not too many dramas. She had a fabulous night and enjoyed looking different to everyone else.

I think it's gorgeous! It fit her very well. I am glad to know she is confident and not let the opinions/styles of the masses, sway her decision to wear what she wanted. I bet she felt like a real Cinderella going to the ball. Did you make all the lace for the bodice on your emb machine?

Thanks so much. I would have made the lace and even bought enough thread to do so just in case but my DD didn't decide she wanted lace over the top until quite late, I had this lace in my stash that I bought for half price ages ago and it was perfect so I decided not to stress myself out making lace too.

It doesn't matter that you didn't make the lace yourself. Isn't it great to have bought something on sale and it's the perfect thing when you need it. I have similar reasons for my stash-lol
I also have to ask, do you live by this beautiful view of the water? If so, you are one lucky lady!

Thank you. I am glad she wasn't swayed by popular styles as this dress suited her and her personality perfectly. I felt privaleged although a little stressed at times to be able to make it for her

Thanks Kim. She had a fabulous night. I think our kitty was planning an escape under the dress, but he didn't succeed!

The dress is gorgeous and so is the cat! This may be too nosy, but, it would be nice to meet the girl who chose to wear such a beautiful garment? Anyway, thanks for showing this as embellishing is what I love about sewing!

What an amazing daughter. In this day and age to not follow along, she's a leader for sure. How wonderful that she helped make the dress. I like the sound of her music.

She has been one to go against the crowd since she was little as she has always seen that there are benefits to not being the same as others. Such a rare quality in her generation
