You might have been wondering why I haven't posted any projects recently. This is a Snapshot of our Library now finished and hanging on my kitchen wall. It consists of 25 blocks, individually digitised. It is intended to represent the contents of our ten book cases and includes a sample of everything. I haven't had time for much else for the last three weeks!

So lovely. This must have kept you quite busy! Nice label as well.
A quilt group near us made one as a group several years ago - that spread the work over some 40 members. When I saw it I started strips with (hand) embroidery and built in stitches of my sewing machine - still at the very bottom of my UFO box. A few of the blocks represent an encyclopedia - quite obsolete nowadays.

Many of these books are obsolete - but we still keep them!

So do we. It's a crime to throw a book out. Which means many of mine end up in the attic when DH buys new ones - he just got 2 ones by post today.

I am a book person, too. Does this commemoration mean you are ready to get rid of some of the real books? When Charles (Previous DH) died, he had about 300 sci fi books read on the shelf, and like you, had some turned the other way not yet read - over 100. He loved sci fi so much, and I just didn't get it at all. I found a sci fi fan at work and gave him a great price.

When we moved to this house we brought 30 boxes of books with us. My daughter told me that only Nazis get rid of books when I tentatively suggested thinning them out!

Beautiful - I am busy with a Book Shelf Quilt at the moment - not of my own books but a workshop that I attended! Hope to complete it in the not too distant future! LOL

There was the most amazing Book shelf quilt on display at a Quilt Festival here in South Africa a few years ago - The unique thing about it was the play on the book titles - some were so unique and absolutely funny! Must say a lot of people viewing the quilt never realised what the titles actually depicted when they read them! One of the best quilts I have ever seen!

Mine has a few "in jokes" in the titles. For instance, the Complete Works of Shakespeare" has become the Complete Works of Upstart Crow. Upstart Crow was a derogatory name picked up on in a recent (excellent) sit-com about the Shakespeare family which my family all enjoyed very much.
