Well, this ??><?*&^% Kookaburra has finally gone and done it! I came home from taking Dana's 2 girls to swimming lessons last night (Thursday) to find my back window smashed!

I think I told you previously he has been bashing into our windows across our back deck. We have plastic strips all over the back deck trying to stop him from flying in and attacking our windows, but to no avail. He has learned that he can fly straight through them without any trouble. We have been at our wits end trying to stop him.

So I've been onto our Insurance company this morning at 6.30am! (they have a 24 hour service thankfully) and they are organising a glazier to come out and if they can't repair it today at least board it up!!!!!!!!!!!

Once this bird, the female and their chick have left the nest, we have decided to cover the hole. We are just not prepared to put up with this anymore. Such a pity as we've had Kookaburras nesting in our gum tree for over 12 years.

I'll add some pictures of what we've done so far!!
1. Trevor had to put back the sheet (we did have this a couple of weeks ago, should have left it!!!)
2. Looking down the deck to the left hand side with window blind pulled down - you can see all the plastic straps we've put up.

5. The culprit out in the back reserve - as soon as he heard me open the back door he flew off! He knows he's done wrong - as usually when I walk out the back and he's sitting on the chair, he just looks at me!
6. The Gum tree where the nest is - you can see how close it is to our back deck. We've actually had a tree Arborist come out and prune the tree. It's hundred's of years old!

You can also see a couple of owls on the back deck (plastic ones) they were absolutely useless. Trev's idea!!!!!! I was told by Bunning's (a hardware store here in Australia) to try SCAT which is on the back table - and I squirted it at the bird and he just blinked his eyes and flew off - hasn't deterred him one bit. AAAAGGGGHHHH!!!!
