Looking for fast, cheap and easy homemade gift ideas for a family party tomorrow. We play a game where dollar (read cheap!) gifts are exchanged. I need to bring about 10 items. I can use fabric I have and embroidery -- but they need to be quick. I want something other's would like to receive.
In the past, I have done some of the items in the attached photos. I can do some of them again if you all think think they will work.

I think they look worth more than $1 and very far from CHEAP! I'd be thrilled to get any of them!

To me, they are worth more...but not everyone sees the value in homemade. I just want it to be something they actually want. I don't think any of them are sewists.

These are great! I don't think you can get anything for $1 anymore and these are worth a lot more than that. You are right in that people don't vaule "home made" things as much as "store bought." Don't know why that is, but you sure can't buy these in a store!

In the very old days, you could get fabric cheaper than pre-made items. WalMart and other stores like it "fixed" that notion. (No pun intended).

They have been a favorite of mine for 20 years. You do have good taste. ;)

If non of them are sewists, then I'd also go for the towels. You can never have enough of them. I personally love the little blue heart pin cushion. Great work on them all. Love Chris

I cheated a bit and found some that were already done in my "finished" drawer. Now, I only have to make 5 or 6 more and all will be grand.

How about some cute coasters? Hugs. Nan W

Thank you -- I should have thought of that. My husband's family haven't a clue about sewing (except his mom) and so all the gifts (but two) were under-appreciated. But it still felt good to give!
So sad that your hand made items are not appreciated. I quit giving to those types. Have a SIL for whom I made a quilted table runner and when I saw the kids eating on it like a placemat I decided no more. Too much effort put forth to not be appreciated.
I think I do it for my MIL. She often buys from me. I'm not sure how much longer she will be around as her health is declining rapidly.

Mug Rugs or Coasters would add to this collection nicely.

Love the towels! And wondering why I have not done them....though with the cost of materials, forget labor, I don't think. Could make them for $1!

Well, I can't do them for a $1 either. There are not many things that can be made for a dollar anymore. I just needed to use what I had on hand. The materials cost at least 2 or 3 dollars. Beware, the towels can be tricky to get them gathered evenly and sewn straight in the machine. Also, be careful as the thickness of it all can be rough on a machine. I use my quilting machine.
I quit gathering the towel and pleat them instead. Much easier to sew and looks nicer I think. Hugs. Nan W
