UPDATE: 2-13-18....Jim is at airport and will be home soon!! His dad turned a corner Sunday night and is again eating...the staff gave him a protein drink with an appetite enhancer and did not give him an option of drinking or not...he drank it and boom it worked like a switch...We are so thankful for all your prayers and words of support!! I totally agree with Meg, it took time to get that narcotic out of his system....Love to all!!

Update for 2-11-18
Dad's staph infection is at his wound site, but it is draining beautifully and he is getting treatment for that..
the docs are waiting for the result of his EEG to see if his brain is firing on all cylinders, they say he should be recovering and he's not really, so next step is the MRI next week to make sure they got all the infection out of his intestines and to make sure nothing else is going on...all is blood work is coming back perfect and is not showing any infection there....the other night he asked whose cat was running around in the curtains and complained someone stole his chair, which he was sitting in.....ugh! At least Jim feels better about seeing his dad and being there for him for now....
Update further down....Calling all prayer warriors!! Jim is on an emergency flight out east to be with his dad.......he had an intestine resection and has a colostomy bag 4 weeks ago and he is not eating, hallucinating and weak.......please pray for safe traveling for Jim and that his dad does not continue to suffer...love to all!!

< UPDATE: 2-9-18..not much has changed other than Jim is comforted by being with his dad!! That is huge for me.....he does have a staph infection (I don't know where) so he is on antibiotic for that.....today they are culturing his flora (good bacteria vs bad bacteria), his incision has healed very well but during one of his hallucinations the other day he told his room mate that his son was pulling the truck around and getting him the hell out of there, so he got out of bed and then fell, so now he is in pain from the bruised ribs......they have taken him off a narcotic that they had him on (why was he on that when he had no wound pain?) and he is now more coherent.......he is having an MRI tomorrow....will continue when I know something else.....Thank you for the prayers and support!!

Saying prayers For Jim's safe travels and that his Dad perks up and surprises him.
When I first met Ray he had a colostomy bag after removal of his bowel. Evidently he was extremely ill after the surgery, ended up with pneumonia and even had a heart attack (while he was in the hospital) That was 15 years ago and he's still going strong, so I wish for the same comeback for Jims's Dad.

Oh, wow, Meg.......thank you for that!! The surgeon said he is healing just fine from the colostomy thingy, but now they are concerned he may have another or more infections....he has 2 docs coming to the nursing home today for tests.....

Some drugs are just way too dangerous for some people, I hope and pray Jim's Dad will return to normal once the drugs are out of his system.

I can't even have Morphine without hallucinations, same with Endone, Tramil, Oxy Codone and many other strong pain meds..... it's like, I imagine, using LSD must be like. Once I'm off them everything goes back to normal but now I refuse to take anything stronger than Panadol.
Dehydration can also cause this type of reaction in a lot of older people so it is something to be aware of.
Anaesthetic is not good for the aged but sometimes it can't be avoided. I will keep praying everything will soon be OK.

Sending HUGE cyber hugs to you all. xxxxxx love, M
