Here's another prayer request! Our oldest daughter has marfan's syndrome. To put it simply, the connective tissue in her body is weak. The big concern is that the aorta will dissect from the heart! We were made aware of this from her early teens and she will be 50 in April...so the doctors have been monitoring her all these years. Here's the brief version of what's happened. Two weeks ago (Thursday) she went to work, felt weak with chest pains and numbness in one leg; had a coworker call for an ambulance; was in emergency for 23 minutes and was then sent from Oliver to Kelowna (lights and sirens all the way for a 1.5 hour drive). By late evening she was air ambulanced from Kelowna to Vancouver General Hospital. Friday, around 9:00 a.m. I spoke to one of the heart surgeons who had just seen her and they were preparing her for the OR. I had a call at 2:35 p.m. to say that the 5-hour surgery went well. Her aorta had a tear in it and they repaired it by putting in 2 stents. She will be monitored by the marfan group regularly and will need one or two more surgeries...maybe open heart. Anyway, we drove to Vancouver and brought her home Sunday. We had planned to have her stay with us today as she shouldn't be alone. My husband went to pick her up and she asked to be taken to emergency. She's dizzy and has a lump at the place of one of her incisions. Just 2 weeks ago today this all started and I feel like we've been on a treadmill with no "off" switch. I'm so glad we know we are all in God's hands. Please pray. I will keep you updated and many thanks for standing in the gap. Blessings to you all, Avis
