I just wanted to share with you our "weird Kookaburra". This bird has given us so much grief! He constantly smashes into our windows and actually broke the glass pane in my window closest to this tree. He hasn't gone away from when they had their chick back at Christmas time!
He flies onto the deck railing, he goes into the tree where there is a hole and puts his beak into it. As I write this the Minor birds are gathering around him and chirping like mad. He's just looking at them!
He flies into our neighbour's windows and they've had him too.
We were hoping he would just go off and find a mate, so here's praying he does. Love Chris

My goodness, he is a persistent bird. I hope he figures out he is safer elsewhere. I hat to think of him injuring or killing himself.

Here is hoping he finds another place to go...I don't recall such a fuss from him when he had his mate and chicks in the years past...

I hope he/she finds a new mate and a new home. I do love Kookaburras but not when they break your windows. Hugs

I think he is really cute. He reminds me of our Stellar Jays, a bit sassy and beautiful. What kind of tree is that?

Hi Jan, this is a Eucalyptus Gum Tree - we think it is the Scribbly Gum Rossii, but there are so many different genus. They can grow to over 25 metres and are very common on the east coast of Australia. Love Chris

Last year my daughter had a bird fly against the window in the den. The cat would sit on the floor ad watch it. I tried to sit in a chair and read but it drove me crazy. Kept it up for quite a while. It was a smaller bird than the one you have flying against your window. You would think a couple of times hitting the window it would get hurt.

Our Kookaburras have an amazingly strong beak Damaris and they can break glass easily, especially after hitting the same spot time and time again! Love Chris
