Looking for some thicker yarn I found an almost finished back panel for a sweater. My children did not like the feel of the yarn, so it slumbered in a bag with the rest of the yarn for at least 30 (!) years. see picture #1.
I had no pattern (made it up at the time), no note of the needle size I used. But decided to finish it - see picture #2. Picture #3 gives some detail.
After steaming it feels so much softer. I am quite pleased with it.

It is gorgeous. So glad that it was finally finished. It always amazes me the things we find when we are not looking for them. What a treasure to find after all this time! Great pattern.

Tell you a secret. You can only see it at the wrong side, but I did the criss cross cable slightly different then in 19xx - the right side looks the same. I only noticed when I added the top of the back after I'd knitted the front :)

Wonderful! The very good thing in knitting is that it is timeless. The pattern still looks young and fresh - and it is great that you just could continue.

My husband even tried if it fitted him. But I started it for a teenaged son and they were slimmer at the time than he is.
