This is my daughter’s horse, Lavito. He has just been flown from Dubai to Johannesburg. Now in quarantine for a month before he goes to his forever home here in South Africa. Apparently Lavito is enjoying the cooler weather. He used to spend most of his day in an air conditioned stable in Dubai.

Emma has had a horse ever since she was young. She is now 45 and this is probably the best all rounder she has ever had. He is just a gentle giant

Beautiful animal. I guess I never gave thought to horses flying. Although, I know they fly small animals... Is it more or less costly to fly a horse than a person ?

Australia always had strict quarantine laws but for about 20 yrs horses have been flown in for the Melbourne Cup which is one of the worlds richest horse races .Also the horses were flown in for the Sydney Olympics .When you think about it horses & all sorts of animals get to flown around the world like people & have passports too.

I have never been very keen either but over the years I have got more used to them. When Emma was young I spent my time boxing and driving horses to various shows. When I look back, I must have been mad.
