OK, Cuties here is a question I've not seen here before....
Jim's quartet is performing a super hero song in their upcoming show....each singer is assigned a super hero...
Jim is Batman, obviously none of the guys want to buy superhero shirts, as they have all spent money on capes and masks, so I made this for Jim to stick on his black (his favorite shirt) tshirt......my question is how would you temporarily attach this to his shirt....I thought of double sided tape, but am afraid it will leave residue on his shirt, so short of pinning it on the shirt do any of you have any idea how I should proceed....BTW, I have deleted this out of my design catalog after I stitched it as I know it can't be sold or given out due to copyright issues......

How about any of the temporary fabric glues? They only stick for a while. I use this one: (I bought mine at Walmart).

Awesome...do you know how long it will hold?
About a day or longer if you leave it alone. Less if the kids keep pulling it off and you have to keep putting it back on.
And this will wash right out of his shirt? Had no clue something like this existed......

Elmer's has a washaway glue. Not just for kids anymore. I got the idea from a quilting board. I use it to glue my quilt sandwich together before I quilt it. Goes in the clothes washer and it washes right out.

Yes. Look for it in school supplies, Joann's, Target, Office Depot...It's commonly around. I don't know what stores are in your area, but you could probably Google it.

Hmmm, I might be tempted to glue it with the Elmer's School Glue Stick (the purple glue stick) as it will stick to the fabric but is totally water soluble. I use the these glue sticks for lots of things including gluing pieces of stabilizer together to make larger pieces from "left overs" which allow me to use these "scraps" for larger hoopings. I usually iron the pieces together (no steam) and then hoop the stabilizer just like normal. Lots of quilters also use this for holding applique pieces down or also using to glue edges of needle turned applique. You can usually get one for about $1.00 at WalMart or Target or other stores like these...even thought the stick is purple, it dries clear with no staining of any kind and totally washes out of everything I have come across...I have also used it to hold down quilt binding until I have had a chance to stitch it in place...

I would use wash away glue and just tack around the edges with black thread. Wishing you every success my friend.

Just another thought, Vicki...there is a water soluble thread that could be used which would allow you to actually stitch this right to the shirt...one wash and it will come right off....You would generally use it in the bobbin...I have some and use it occasionally for some of the applications in my ITH quilt blocks...

Omg, thanks Kim....this is just what I need...do you think it would work if I use it as top thread? I don't have any way to wind a bobbin for my Melco....
I don't see why not...the main reason it is used in the bobbin is that most use it for quilts and they are able to remove the top thread very easily when the bobbin thread washes away....you will probably need to slow your machine way down...I have not tried it on a multi-needle machine or on the top thread...if all else fails, you could stitch on the sewing machine...
...I would suggest you try it out on a sample first....
