Hi Cuties, it's an overcast day and so I thought I'd do a little bit of sewing before I'm on Op Shop this afternoon. I've got a couple of things coming up in November for which I've got to make some Christmas decorations. These are FSL and were made in the 120x120 hoop (nearly 5 inches by 5 inches). I purchased them from Embroidery Home. Thanks for looking, love Chris

Start with a company's designs that people recommend as always turning out. For me that would be Martha Pullen, Cute Embroidery (of course) or Floriani. I have had some failures from Designs by SICK, although some digitizers are excellent. Skip the metallic thread until you've experienced some success. Layer one layer of the white washaway (more stays in) and one layer of the "clear" (mostly washes out). DO NOT enlarge or decrease design, if you're a beginner! I want you to have success. New sharp needle and slow your machine speed down. Sit back and be prepared to be amazed! Oh, rinse in a bowl, not the sink, and toss the rinse water in your back yard, not down the drain to prevent a really nasty, expensive plumber's bill in about eighteen months. Just trust me on this one.

Thanks Laura, I had no trouble whatsoever with these designs. I used 2 pieces of WSS and the same thread in the bobbin as on the top. Love Chris

Hi Suzanna, I bought a new metal hoop on Tuesday and it just wouldn't work with my Ruby - took it back today to Thorpe's and Maarten updated the software version, so it's now working like a charm. I've never used a metal hoop before and it uses magnets to hold onto the stabiliser and fabrics. I've done my first one out on it today and it's really fabulous. Love Chris

Thanks Pam, they are easy to find. Just look at FSL, on the left hand side of the page at Embroidery Home. Then it's the FSL Santa Claus set at the moment it's at the bottom of page 1. Love Chris

These are really cute and a great stitchout as well.

I like Emb Home because you can buy just one design. I usually can figure out who the designer is by the letters in front of the numbers. I should add that you don't see the letters until you download your order.
