Good afternoon Cuties. I made a 'Christmas' journal still using my Christmas scrap, from the runner I made the other day. I admit I had to piece the front and back, to have enough for the outer cover, but I think one would have to examine the spine, to see where I sewed it together. Look here at second pic. I really like the vintage look of this fabric and wanted to use it all.
I was reminded of a journal I made a Cutie. She professed how much she loved hers and wrote in it daily. I am glad she likes hers and I know how much it means to her. She is a special person and special to me. She wouldn't hurt anyone for the world.
On the otherhand....
Did I tell you what happened on our last bus trip?
As most of you know, I make and GIVE away GIFTS, as we play games on the journeys, to pass the time. I take pride in my work, but my feelings were hurt one day, when something I never experienced before, happened.
We stop about every two hours for restroom breaks. In between those stops, is when we play games. It doesn't cost to play and you can participate or not, so everything is FREE.
Well, I usually hold up the gift we are playing for, before we know who wins, to make it fair. I usually don't remember who gets what, as happened in this case.
We had made a bathroom/refreshment stop, after playing some games. When we loaded back onto the bus, I am usually waiting in the rear of the bus, so I can count to make sure we have everyone.
When everyone was accounted for and we were set to go, I sat down in my seat only to discover I had sat down on a gift I had given previously. It was a larger clutch purse, fully lined with all seams enclosed with a strap. I held it in my hand and looked across at my niece.
She asked,"where did that come from?"
I told her," I found it in my seat, so I guess the person that won it, didn't want it, so she gave it back."
My niece couldn't believe it! These were 'ladies' that were new to us and we really didn't know, but maybe 2 or 3, before the trip.
I told my friend Kathy, when we got in our room and were in our beds that night. Kathy was upset for me and I told her to just forget it. She exclaimed and I thought 'How ungrateful!'.
So when MY Cutie (lol) recently told me how much she enjoys her gift, it warmed my heart....Love you Cuties!-Toogie
ps.I quilted my fabric and made 2 more Christmas journals.
I too wonder how miserable they have to be, to not enjoy a gift, freely given. It is sad....
I had one lady come leave a check with me, for a trip and found me, in my sewing room making bus gifts. I had the gifts laid out, counting them and relayed the story about the clutch, without naming the woman as I really don't know who it was anyway. This lady said to be sure she got that clutch when we played again. She loved it and how dare someone treat me like that! 'Seriously', she said,' I want the clutch.'
So see there are all kinds..the gratefuls and the ungratefuls the selfless and the selfish
It almost felt like a slap in the face (almost-lol) when I found it....
Even though people get older, some don't get any nicer. Thanks for the lovin' hugs!
All your prizes are well made and look great.
I was just thinking about the clutch story above, maybe the winner gave it back to you because she doesn't prefer clutches and thought another winner of a game might enjoy it more. (She just didn't know how to go about it) You are a very caring and generous person!
Thanks for appreciating what I enjoy doing so much.
