I am so excited. Feel like a kid at Christmas. I am of Swedish and Dutch heritage. Since I live in a community where most everyone has at least a little bit of Swedish ancestry, the Swedish part of me usually wins out. My Dad was a very talented carpenter. Many of the tools he used came from Sweden and where used to build many of the homes in this community. The Swedish Dala horse was Dad's mark. He branded it onto every thing he made. I have been looking for a dala horse pattern to make an ornament. Most of the ones I found where either the wrong shape or the wrong markings. I was getting frustrated. Then along came the wonderful, talented Vicki(basketkase). She took my scribble( i traced the shape of one of the wooden ornaments my Dad made and then put markings on it) and turned it into this wonderful ornament. She did such a wonderful job in bring my idea to fruition. And she did it while not feeling good! Thank you so much!

Vicki is incredible. I was just looking at a design I inspired many years ago. I still love it! The ornament looks fabulous. I am so happy for both of you and hope Vicki feels better soon.

Just to realize that the Dala horse is both you and your Dad's design is such a wonderful a memory forever. We are so lucky to have such wonderful cuties from all over the world showing us their special cultural things. And to have Vicki do this for you....she'd better get well soon!
I hope you've named your horses.

These are wonderful and will certainly be an heirloom in your family! Be sure to write down your story about how you got and made these so that the ones who get them know the story behind them too.

Sometimes I think Vicki goes in her sewing room, puts on her red Superwoman cape, and things just start flying out of her room! We are fortunate to have her in out Cuties' community!
