Wanted to share a picture of our beautiful Black cockatoos. These birds are drinking from my friend Dianna’s birdbath - normally during early morning and late evening, but due to our dreadful heat at the moment and the high humidity they are drinking more often throughout the day.

HI Gerry, yes, we need big birdbaths here for the large birds that fly about in this area. Love Chris

Wow they are beautiful. I have never seen or heard of a black cockatoo. Australia has so many interesting and beautiful animals. Wish I could come back and spend some time. Hugs. Nan W

Hi Nan, we also have Black Swans just down in Belmont at Swan Bay (Lake Macquarie) not far from where we live. They are awesome looking too. I'll put up a picture for you. Love Chris

Hi Kim, ha ha, when a group of Cockatoos are gathered together it's called a "Crackle" of Cockatoos! How cool is that? Love Chris
That sounds better than a murder of crows :)

Wow! They are beautiful! Do you hear them talk to each other?

Hi Chris, I've not heard them in our garden, but I do as they fly overhead and around the block there is a tree where they like to eat the seeds from and they have a very high pitched squawk, quite different from our Sulphur crested Cockatoo which has a really raucous squawk. Love Chris

Fabulous picture, Chris! I would imagine the birds like the fact that the bird bath is in the shade, too.

Hi Deb, yes, the birds appreciate a bath in the middle of the day time. I've got one down the back of our garden and it's great to watch them splash about in it. Love Chris

These are for Nan - we also have Black Swans and they are about a 5 minute drive away from where Trev and I live. We are so fortunate in having tremendous bird life in this area. Love Chris
P.S. We still have our 'pesky' Kookaburra that lives in and around our back reserve - over the past year and a quarter he hasn't given up trying to smash our windows. We've had all sorts of protection against the windows and I think he's finally got the point, but we can still see him down in the reserve in the tree behind our back fence from time to time. We were hoping that he would grow out of it, so we wait with baited breath!!!!!!!! Love Chris

Beautiful blacks! I love to see (a bank of) swans, and as you know the wild varieties here - mute and whooper - are white. Blacks are usually only seen in birdparks or the moats or ponds of stately homes.
Georgeous! Love their gracefulness. Thanks for the pics. Nan

That must be a very large birdbath ,only 2 Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos can fit on ours at once. The photo shows 2 of the 5 birds that came back this summer ,last summer there were only 4.They are still hanging around & one loves to screech all the time.
