Good morning/evening Cuties.

I wanted to show you my Celtic Coasters (from Kreative Kiwi a New Zealand embroidery company). These are made in the 5x7 hoop and only have about 10,000 stitches. They are made in the hoop and I've done mine with the pattern on the back as well. I've just used plain 'fairy floss' white on one side and plain red cotton on the other side. They are made on 2 layers of Water soluble solvy (the mesh type) and have Pellon on the inside for some cushioning. They turn out about 5 inches by 6 inches finished.

I've just been "talking" with sewdeb and explaining how dang hot it is down here in New South Wales at the moment. The State of Victoria has had a total fire ban.
Up here in NSW it's almost as bad. I've got the air con on in my sewing room and try and do some sewing early in the morning. I've got 2 of these done, so a few to go. Hope everyone is keeping cool/warm depending on where you live.

Trev and I went out last night to our favourite theatre/restaurant to have dinner and see a Beach boys tribute band. I'm a mad fan of the Beach boys - even have Good Vibrations on my phone as the ringtone!! It was so hot in there as the air conditioners couldn't cope! It was the most uncomfortable evening I can ever remember and when we got home about 11.30 the house was like an oven!

Luckily for me Trev bought me a portable air conditioner in November and I've got it set upstairs in my bedroom and I actually had it on all night as it was still 29C at midnight! I slept very soundly! When I woke at 5.30 it was still 25C! We're in for another week of it and then we're off to Adelaide (South Australia) where it's not much better. I don't like hot!!! Love Chris

You girls need to go to camp somewhere temperate together this time of year! I'm not coming to visit either of you right now....
by pennifold 19 Jan 2019
I was only saying to Trevor I'd love to live somewhere where the median temperature is about 24-25C.

Thank you for commenting. Love Chris

Chris they have turned out very nice, love their designs and have lots of them and they always turn out well and very good instructions.. Well hope when you get down to Adelaide it is better we had a very hot week, a couple of better days for now and then starting to get hot again next week. I do not like the heat at all especially the humidity. Val

Thanks Kim, the back is exactly the same as the front only all red fabric, so the stitching doesn't show that much. KK did theirs in black so it really stands out. Love Chris

Oh, Chris. These are swoozy. (Wonderful, magnificent and stylish.) Good move. I notice they are in Christmas colors. Do you celebrate other holidays?

Thanks so much Linda. I first heard of them when I was 12, and loved their unique sound. I'm also an ABBA fan and their music with Benny's playing of the Piano reminds me a bit of The Beach Boys. Love Chris

Thanks Mary. I love the Beatles too. It was 1964 when they came to Adelaide. I was 12 and too young to go down to the city and see them, but I remember Mum telling me all about the fanfare and TV report about them. The old bands are the best. ❤️👵🏻

I love the coasters! It's good to do a low count projects sometimes. I grew up with a brother who surfed so of course you heard a lot of Beach Boys playing in our house.

I have to still laugh about this, so maybe you will to. When I first met my now husband, his birthday was coming up and so was mine. Not knowing each other as well yet, I bought him an album of artist I listened to. I bought him The Beach Boys! He in turn had bought me an album of the kind of music he listened to Loretta Lynn! -lol- we were both so off!!! (Some might say we still are!-lol lol)

Thanks so much Patti. I now copy everything I type before I send it and that way I can just paste it into my message again if it doesn't go through. Sometimes it doesn't like spaces between paragraphs etc. Love Chris

These are great Chris! Hubby, DD and I saw the Beach Boys years ago at an outdoor Summer concert where it was so hot, people were "dropping like flies" from the heat. We got so warm we had stopped sweating. Today is a perfect day to reminisce about this concert since we just received 30" of new snow and it is -10F. But, as I told you, I used to live where we'd get nasty, raw, snowy, icy winters and hot, humid "stick to everything" summers. The Summers were the worst!
Think cool thoughts, sit in a darkened room, drink in hand and pop in a "snow themed" movie like "Cool Runnings", "Frozen" if the granddaughters haven't worn out the DVD :-) or "8 Below"

Or maybe consider setting up lawn chairs in the frozen food section of your local market. Hey, there were times, before we had an air conditioner, when this idea was VERY appealing! LOL
