LOL... just make sure y'all don't visit during our winter. That white knuckle driving when there is less than a foot of snow on the ground, makes folks like me kind o' crazy. lol

If you like I will trade you a little of your cold weather for the 41c (105DEG) we had yesterday burnt our garden to a crisp , beatiful roses all burnt . Crazy weather.

Yes, I am old enough to remember, if you got to the store too late there was no bread, no milk, no canned tuna, no candles, and no Sterno (canned fuel for cooking in a power outage). We are very suspicious of anything we don't understand and in this case, that is snow. Schools closed from Montgomery across to Auburn and northwards tomorrow. Three additional problems here in the South we love - our school bus drivers have little experience driving on snow or ice; our pine trees freeze and snap and fall; we warm up and then the snow refreezes as ice on the roads. Call me a wimp or a wuss, but I'll be inside with the cat.

My update - slept like a log and woke up to 39 degrees. Haven't found out if we made it to 22 or not.

Got a good laugh out of all of you this morning. Born and raised in middle Ga.. Saw very little snow. Have lived where I lost a Volkswagon(snow covered it) and much prefer no snow at all. At groc. yesterday saw no bread I only wanted milk, got it and left in a hurry. This morning 6am. Snowing no sticking dreading ice to come. I will no venture out . Will sit here and crochet.

Difficult to get my head around this as we bake in the heat in South Africa. Keep warm.

Ah yes, snow and ice in the south is not a pretty sight. We were at a Christmas Eve service when our first southern snow storm hit. We came out to a winter wonderland. Though we are experienced "snow" drivers, the trip home was not pretty. The inexperienced folks were slamming on the brakes and sliding all over the place or driving so slow that they lost all traction and stopped in the middle of the road, and then there were the idiots in 4 wheel drive vehicles that thought it was a hoot to drive like maniacs to test their vehicles and show others their superiority even though that made it much worse for the others. Definitely a good choice not to have school buses on the road. Stay warm and I hope you can find enough to eat.

I do not want to brag since I really have nothing to do with it, but temps here are a comfortable 65 Fahrenheit. Not too cold, not too warm. I am sure I will be complaining in the summer. I am praying for all of you that are afflicted by this crazy weather.

I totally understand. Here in Iowa, we are experiencing bitter cold weather. High today is 14 degrees with wind chill of -50. This is very unseasonal for us. Not! Would you mind some visitors. I promise not to share our cold temps and snow.

Even here in south central PA we are experiencing some winter weather....after all it is still winter according to the calendar. It just seems that people don't use common sense in this and with it come the cancellations. It 's the extreme cold that I am dreading!!!! Take care and stay safe.

I'm glad you managed to stay safe and warm even though you came close to starving. My hubby and I made the choice to retire to where we didn't have to shovel after 3 winters in North Dakota. We never regretted our decision. If you get desperate, we're south of you so you can find refuge in slightly warmer weather.

Well all this about weather is interesting. There are Cuties who are in Australia who are currently living in the hottest conditions that they have known and then others who are in extreme cold temperatures.
Snow has caused the closure of some schools in my bit of the UK today and will probably do so again tomorrow. Hope you don't starve as its a long way for me to come with a loaf of bread and a bottle of milk. Hope the kids get some snow to enjoy on their day off. And...keep us posted with your predicament

From the north east coast of Australia we are having lots of rain. This time last year our dam was 14% full today they opened the gates to release water. More water on its way. It is starting to reach some of our farmers who have been in drought for years. Everyone please keep safe.

Guessing you will survive! Though it has been very cold in parts of USA, so I believe. I am from South Aust. and it's been a really hot January. Hottest it got here [at our place] was 46 degrees celsius. But it eventually cooled.

Lol! I grew up in upstate New York and have seen mountains of snow! I have only seen that here in Denver once and that was in 82'. If you are not used to snow, it can be frightening. i call this a trace, not even measurable.
